5th ANNIVERSARY / HOLIDAY TOY DRIVE
TUESDAY DECEMBER 15, 2009 - 6pm
JILLIAN'S BILLIARDS

Five years ago this December, the State of Washington cleared the business model that would become the Seattle Poker Open. in early March of 2005, we started hosting free poker tournaments and creating a social network like no other.  At the core of what makes the SPO so special, and adds to it's success and longevity, are you... the players.

Over the years we've seen players become friends, form relationships, and some have even gotten married and started a family.  Some of our friends from the league have moved on (or away, for that matter), some are still with us (and working for the league!).  Of course there are the players in our Hall of Fame that have achieved a certain amount of success within the league, but there are others that we've just lost touch with.  Sandy Gould, Miller Jones, Geoff SImons, Ted Buttle, Per Widlund, Lenny Hom, Brett Pontarelli, Nick Rehse, and so many others... we miss you!

During our traditional time off for the Holdiays, we hope to reunite some of those players that have strayed from the league.  On Tuesday December 15th, we'll be hosting a night of get-togethers and Sit 'N Go tournaments from 6pm until 10pm.  Come by, say hello, catch up with old friends, and play some poker.

This Reunion Night will also be a Holiday Toy Drive to help out some kids in need of some cheering up this holiday season.  We've partnered with Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and will be delivering them any toys/gifts you might want to contribute.  SCCA has provided us with the following guidelines when picking out a gift for donations:

  • GIFT CERTIFACTES: Gift Certificates are an excellent way to help out our patients.  We suggest certificates for restaurants in the Capitol Hill, Downtown Seattle, and Lake Union areas, pizza delivery, movies, bookshops and music CDs/iTunes. Gift Cards to Target, Best Buy and other chain retailers (in $25 values).
  • UNWRAPPED GIFTS: Please make sure your gifts are new and delivered unwrapped.  Items can include board games/travel games, electronic games (Sudoku, etc.), Books/Books on CD, craft kits (cross stitch, latch hook, etc.),disposable cameras, hats/scarves/gloves, local sports team clothes/hats, sweat pants/shirts, telephone cards, new release DVDs (please make them upbeat stories) children's clothing (infant, todler and youth sizes), video games (Everyone & Teen rated only) for X-Box, Wii and Playstation 3.
  • WE DO NOT ACCEPT any perishable items, stuffed animals or live/dried plants or flowers.  All items should be fragrance free.

For those of you that still have the competetive itch to scratch while helping out, we'll be tracking points in the Sit 'N Go's.  If you bring an item for donation, you'll get double points on your first "cash" in a SNG.  Once the night is done, we'll tally the points and the player with the most points will not only receive a free VIP Membership for the Winter 2010 season, but also a free buy-in to the Bounty tournament at The Hideaway Casino in Shoreline on Saturday December 19th!

This is the first of many 5th Anniversary promotions that will be a part of the Winter Season, starting the week of January 10th.  We hope to see old and new faces out for a night a fun and charity.
